Laser
Surface Hardening
Laser surface hardening is a surface self-quenching process
of quickly heating by laser beam and quickly cooling by
material itself. It makes the material like iron alloy
or steel alloy to austenite and martensite within a short
time. It means the phase transform uses 0.2~0.6seconds
for heating and 104~106℃/second for cooling. Additively,
the laser beam exists little heat affected result, and
the dimension distortion is little during the quenching
process.
Laser beam can also do the remelting job, quickly heating,
melting, and solidifying with in a second. Thus, the process
structure has very fine grain, particles or microstructure.
And the dimension change is little.
Laser treatment is a process without quenching media like
water and oil. The environment is clean, and operation
environment is friendly, and pollution does not exist.
